the cops don't need you and they expect the same

I was just sitting outside of Cafe Flora interviewing people about why they stayed (more on that later), and two NOPD breathed hello before going inside and getting some coffee. Their greeting was again friendly as they passed us on the way out. One of the men I was interviewing (and older, well-groomed male wearing a clean blue T-shirt) asked them when curfew was. The male officer stopped. "24 hours," he replied. "We though it was dusk til dawn," guy in blue T-shirt said. "We saw on the news that it's 24 hours. That's where we get our information from. The news," said one of New Orleans' finest. It seems like as long as you don't talk to a cop or do anything remotely suspicious you'll be left alone, but they don't want to deal with any of us. Some officers have been surprisingly nice and suggested different routes to take to get around the city. A friend of mine just got back in with no credentials. He and his wife came in over The Bonabel Spillway and were waved along by state police. Law enforcement also is allowing members of the media with credential to enter the parishes.
